Biography
SARAH OWENS - CLASSICAL TRUMPETER
Sarah is a freelance British trumpeter living in Denmark.
Hun taler Dansk.

The beauty and emotion of Sarah’s trumpet playing are a natural expression of her passion for classical music in all its forms. After attending Sarah’s recent recital at The Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Gorm Hovaldt, trumpeter with the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra remarked: ‘This was a chamber music concert of the highest quality’.
The wide range of Sarah’s classical music interests and activities is demonstrated by her recent performances of Mahler 6, Verdi's Requiem and Gabrieli with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra and her educational concerts with the Danish Army’s historic Slegsviske Musikkorps. Her inspiration to pursue a career in Europe came from her performances of the Boehme Trumpet Concerto in Hungary and London and her experience playing with the Franz Liszt Academy Orchestra at MUPA in Budapest.

Sarah believes that music is a collaborative experience in which musicians and the audience go on a journey together. Whether Sarah is performing with an orchestra, an ensemble or as a soloist, this journey begins with discovering how she can express the emotions of the music and the composer through her own interpretation, or under the guidance of a conductor. During her performances, Sarah is inspired by the connection created with the audience as they share this emotional journey together.

Alongside her freelance work, Sarah recently undertook postgraduate study as a soloist with Martin Schuster and Kristian Steenstrup at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark. At her professional debut concert - the final exam of the soloist course - in September 2023, Sarah performed an ambitious programme of chamber music featuring the trumpet and received high praise from Gorm Horvaldt, Søren Birch and Kristian Steenstrup. She holds an M.Mus in Classical Trumpet from the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus and in 2021 she was awarded an Ejnar Hansen scholarship for her soloist studies. As an undergraduate, Sarah was a Trinity College London Trumpet Scholar, obtained First Class honours in the B.Mus. (Hons) Trumpet Performance degree and was awarded the Trinity College of Music Trust Silver Medal for Wind, Brass & Percussion.

She is currently seeking an orchestral position to be her first professional 'home' as a classical trumpeter and is available for work in the UK and continental Europe.
